Malang and his parents have experienced the devastating legacy that war leaves behind.
They were mowing grass to feed their goats. Unbeknownst to them, there was unexploded ordnance in the ground.
The blast severely injured Malang.
They arrived at
our First Aid Post
in Grishk. One of our ambulances then brought Malang to
our Surgical Centre in Lashkar-Gah.
"They arrived in a state of shock," says our colleague.
Malang is eight years old.
We had to amputate Malang’s right leg below the knee.
After undergoing a series of surgeries, and despite all the suffering,
he is now recovering.
