The International Operating Theatre (OT) Nurse supports the safe and effective functioning of the operating theatre in emergency and humanitarian contexts. The role focuses on supervising, mentoring, and training national OT staff, while supporting the OT Team Leader in daily OT management. The position acts as a link between headquarters and the field to ensure the implementation of organizational standards and objectives.
The International OT Nurse reports hierarchically to the Head Nurse, technically/organizationally to the OT Specialist (HQ), and works in functional collaboration with the OT Team Leader.
Main Responsibilities
In collaboration with the OT Team Leader, the International OT Nurse will:
- Support OT staff management, including duty rosters, staff allocation, breaks, and shift changes, in coordination with the Head Nurse and HR Office
- Supervise Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices, including sterilization, CDD activities, and operating theatre cleaning
- Provide on-the-job and theoretical training to national OT staff and support capacity building initiatives
- Support surgical instrument and equipment management, including use of instrument databases and standardization of surgical sets
- Contribute to needs assessment, quality improvement, and the development or revision of operating theatre procedures and SOPs
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with solid experience in Operating Theatre nursing
- Minimum 3 years of OT experience
- Experience in staff training
