A mobile unit for information and prevention.
Facilitating access to health services in the area, increasing knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases and how to avoid them: these are the goals of our project aimed at sex workers in Caserta, southern Italy.
Our team – consisting of a nurse, a cultural mediator and a driver – carry out information and prevention activities in an extremely deprived area.
Many of the women visited by our staff – of various nationalities, mostly Nigerian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Italian, Russian, Albanian, Polish – do not have a GP; most have never accessed the public health service and do not know their health rights.
The mobile unit was created thanks to the donation of SPI CGIL.
